Male Fertility
Male Fertility
Undergoing FERTILITY TREATMENT – Natural or assisted fertility treatment or even just thinking of STARTING A FAMILY? Most couples spend around £15,000 on fertility treatment.
Accounting for lifestyle – our nutrition and environment is a good investment. HERE’S WHY:
Every fertility checkpoint is affected by our nutrition and our environment.
1 in 6 couples trying for a baby experience difficulty. In 40% of these cases the issue is with the man. London Naturopath, Osteopath Susannah Makram uses a functional approach. Sperm DNA damage can be decreased measurably. This can optimise male fertility, in the right cases.
The Four Phases #InTheFourPhases
Male Fertility
Phase 1 – SAFE
Private Consultation. We have a system in place for everyone. Whether you’re a couple or individual seeking guidance after recurrent miscarriage or a diagnosis of unexplained infertility. We may be able to help you. The consultation establishes this.
We’re interested in nutrition and lifestyle changes to optimise health. The chance of optimising fertility routes available to you is discussed at consultation.

Phase 2 – CLINICAL
Phase Two is HOW we can help you. Because we support nutrition and lifestyle changes you’re choosing to work with us. HOW we work, is up to you.
Damage to sperm DNA (sperm DNA fragmentation) affects every fertility checkpoint and can increase the risk of miscarriage.
Laboratory Testing – If further testing will produce results that will CHANGE your portfolio and overall treatment plan we look into that, so it’s OPTIMAL. You may be referred directly (to test levels of, for example, Testosterone, LH, Estradiol, Semen White Blood Cell Count, Antisperm antibodies)

Male Fertility Nutrition
Phase 3 – PRACTICAL
A few examples of targeted nutrition:
Diabetes adversely influences male fertility at a molecular level. Therefore, your unique carbohydrate metabolism is made to work for you.
Pituitary gland function must be optimal for the release LH and FSH so that the testis produce testosterone and sperm. Your plan cuts out any biological processes that slow this function down.
Similarly, white blood cell count in semen can be treated properly. This is done with dual-therapy antioxidants and correct anti-inflammatory medication.
Phase Four – EFFECTIVE
Your nutrition goals:
- Develop strategies to protect your sperm
- Make it possible for new treatments to work that may not have done previously
- Improve likelihood that other treatments will work
- Improve likelihood of conceiving naturally, if this is an option
Antioxidants in a form that’s bioavailable measurably reverse sperm DNA damage by free radicals.
Semen quality is a fundamental biomarker of overall male health.
“I am very pleased to recommend Susannah Makram. I have worked with her both with patients requiring osteopathy and with patients requiring dietary advice.
